Posted by Bartleby on November 13, 2007

to the 1 maybe 2 loyal readers of this young blog, I am now moving back to blogspot. I have used blogger since I started blogging with various blogs over the last 4 years or so and left it thinking the grass was greener. I was pissed at the lack of templates and lack of decent 3 column templates specifically. WordPress frustrates me in several ways which i will not waste the energy explaining. So all you need to know is new name and blog at:

please continue readership there, this wordpress blog is dead.

casual monday

Posted by Bartleby on November 12, 2007

Today was an optional work day due to Veterans Day.  I showed up cuz I need the cash.  My boss took the option to stay home.  So on this Monday I wore jeans and said fuck the dress code.  It felt good.  I really don’t get the no jeans policy when msot of the “business casual” attire donned looks like shit.  People stretch it pretty far.  Wearing comfortable clothes and comfortable looking clothes and getting by with it because they don’t happen to contain denim.  Bring it on, tell me my nice dark designer denim doesn’t look better, more professional even, than your wrinkled, wrinkle free, knock-off dockers.  Ok so I could make the bold stand today without worry since half the office stayed home, but still…

Overheard at the office: Rich chicks are HOT!

Posted by Bartleby on November 9, 2007

This one sided covo was overheard coming from the 55+ year old mouth of the weird, geeky tech-support guy, lets call him Allen.  Someone (i think from within the office) calls Allen to tell him that their computer problem is fixed.  He quickly is districted by a pack of “hot rich girls.” I can only imagine who he could have been on the other end of the phone and their reaction.  Keep in mind that this expression from Allen is not out of character.

There is a group of girls running by the office building yelling “whoowhooo”

I don’t know, must be from the high school nearby, rich area

I hate to say this but RICH CHICKS ARE HOT!

I was at (inaudible) the other day and wow…now I’m talking about the moms not the daughters (sure..)

I mean they got money to go to the gym, get their hair done, look good.

…No, no that’s not dirty….

Ron Paul shocks the world with 24hr fundraising

Posted by Bartleby on November 9, 2007

$4.3 million in one day! Pretty freaking amazing. Paul is known for his internet following and you may wish to cynically compare his efforts to Howard Dean’s falter but Paul is something real.  Take straw polls fwtw but Paul placed first, edging out hometown favorite Rudy, in the New York Straw Poll!  While the GOP fails to take him seriously you can’t ignore his war chest, although not backed by gold, is unusually large for such a “long shot.”  I know the focus is on the GOP nomination but an independent candidacy would bring even larger support from both sides.  He may not have enough cash to get on the ballot as an independent in all states but perhaps just enough to give the GOP establishment the middle finger, the same GOP establishment who has seemingly abandoned core principles of small government, spending, etc.  GOP needs to think twice before kicking around Ron Paul.  How easy they forget the effect of Ross Perot in 1992 and Pat Buchanan in 2000…

dreaming of co-workers revisted

Posted by Bartleby on November 9, 2007

not me but the same peer at the office who prompted this post.  This time she dreamed about a different co-worker and the co-worker’s son.  It was a bizarre dream as many dreams are, that’s another reason to keep it to yourself.  I should mention that the dreamer is female and the co-workers she relays her work dreams to are also females.  Do you think she would tell me she had a dream about me (being the man that I am).  As innocent as the dream may be, that would really cross the line and rob me of the usual convenience of hiding my cringe behind the walls of my cube.

Ron Paul Delivers

Posted by Bartleby on November 7, 2007

The Ron Paul revolution is a crazy ride. With all the energy in this grass roots phenomenon you never know what you’re gonna get, hence the Ron Paul sex offender delivery van:

Or as a friend said: “is Ron Paul punking people now?”

Honk for Ron Paul, LOL, right on brutha.

***Update***

Apparently this van gets around, here is a separate photo at a different location, a close up.

***Update II***

And of course the campain is not compete without this. What is really amazing is that this kind of effort is done by volunteers and supporters without any real direction by the campaign, at least as far as I am aware of. Join the Revolution, VOTE RON PAUL!

***Update III***

Ok, so I’ll stop updating with the seemingly endless kick ass Ron Paul mobiles. This one is too genius to not post.

Ole Dennis Kucinich says that the

Posted by Bartleby on November 7, 2007

“The Constitution has been under attack by this administration,” Kucinich told an reporter during the vote, and his effort is “part of a growing movement” to defend it. - WashPost

Perhaps he should just vote for Ron Paul. Problem solved. On a related note, I took one of those “who is your candidate” quizzes that I fucking hate (I hate being classified and categorized by a 5-10 question yes or no quiz) after being prodded by a friend. The magic quiz told me I aligned most with Ron Paul (guess it is accurate in that sense) and told me Kicinich was a close second. Interesting that the two seen as the party “extremes” come out so close.

A chafed penis much more than “the pits”

Posted by Bartleby on November 7, 2007

it is fucking painful (which each subsequent step) and nothing near what I would consider enjoyable!

“Wearing the wrong underwear is the pits,” said Diane Sylofski, graduate student in instruction of campus recreation at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Comfortable undergarments are the first step of proper fitness attire. The type and duration of the activity is a big factor when choosing special undergarments. “For the most part, choose something that is comfortable and something supportive for the guys,” Sylofski said. -DN

Take my word for it… and Diane’s.

At Least Fred Knows What We All (Should) Know…

Posted by Bartleby on November 6, 2007

that he won’t be the next president.  Is he just havin a little retirement fun, raisin his status and stature, strokin the ego, doin it cuz Jerri wants some big time experience in the biz?  The joke of a candidacy will end soon enough in failure.  Now at least we know Freddie isn’t that dumb, he apparently realizes that an empty candidate can only get so far.

Watch this shit

Posted by Bartleby on November 5, 2007

and try to tell me what this old babbling fucker is saying:

What, you don’t speak “old babbling fucker?” Perhaps that’s my problem as well. First he says he is against abortion regulations but then comes around and says that he believes that life begins at conception and has voted 100% pro-life. He even uses liberal language about how he’s against criminalizing abortion and young girls and then says that he saw his baby kickin around in Jerri.

He is often confused and desperately trying to reconcile his own past/present position to align with GOP voters. He is such a ignorant fraud of a candidate. One of the main reasons he gets this far is cause of his political consultant wife. No way he could figure this shit out on his own. Does he even have a platform yet, beyond “common sense conservatism” and “federalism?”

TURF WAR!!

Posted by Bartleby on November 1, 2007

Environmentalist University of Nebraska at Lincoln Student Senator Fights The Turf!!

Monica Sanford, a graduate student in architecture and county regional planning, said she researched synthetic turfs and found reports that say the materials found in a synthetic turf would eventually harm the environment.

Sanford voted against the resolution.

Bill Goa Jr., senior associate director of campus rec, said he hasn’t found any reports of synthetic turf harming the environment.

We would never, ever do anything to hurt the environment,” he said.

I would be curious to hear how turf hurts the environment more than, say, fertilizer, mower exhaust, and water consumption.  I was always under the impression that it aided in reducing waste and pollution by recycling and grinding up all those pesky used tires for the underlayment and synthetic materials.

Bumper sticker of the day

Posted by Bartleby on October 31, 2007

If size doesn’t matter then why don’t they make 4 inch dildos?

*btw these are actual bumper stickers witnessed driving throughout the day.  On this one, your stereotype imagination of the occupant is probably accurate, someone you wouldn’t care to get any mental image of – dildo or no dildo.

My overpriced

Posted by Bartleby on October 31, 2007

private school just informed me via email that 1 in 5 students at my school are depressed and we all should get screened to see if we need counseling.  Perhaps the school depression rate is related to the daily realization that you are amassing around 200k in debt and will essentially be working for the school for the next 20 years.

WTF Obama?

Posted by Bartleby on October 30, 2007

Does he think he is a sports player or something that doesn’t have to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem or pledge of allegiance at the Harkin Steak Fry. Damn commie, that is stupid politics right there. I was going to continue to refer to him as Brock, the Americanized name I gave him, but shit no, not now, he ain’t no American.

Note Well

Posted by Bartleby on October 29, 2007

If you occupy a public water fountain for several minutes to refill your water bottle use the lower placed fountain and let us drinkers exercise our priority.  I think it is fucking rude to stand there filling your righteous water bottle while us folk thirsty for an immediate quench must bend over awkwardly.

What a Bummer:

Tancredo won’t seek re-election

We are sure to be overrun with the ensuing flood of immigrants moments after he leaves office. Why must this savior leave us when we need him most? Will he run for Senate? Oh, I forgot he is going to be president.

5 years jail for breaking and entering to steal chickens!

Posted by Bartleby on October 29, 2007

This gem comes from Rhode Island, of all places, last amended in 1956. Perhaps the fine should be increased to accord with inflation and the seriousness of the crime. I wonder how often this statute has been invoked in the last 50 years?

§ 11-8-6 – Breaking and Entering to steal poultry
Every person who breaks and enters, or enters in the nighttime without breaking, any building or enclosure in which are kept or confined any kind of poultry, with intent to steal any of the poultry, shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than five (5) years, or by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($ 500), or both.

Every person who is discovered in the act of willfully entering any building or enclosure in which are kept or confined any kind of poultry, with intent to steal any of the poultry, may be arrested without a warrant and detained in jail or otherwise until a complaint can be made against him or her for the offense.

BTW, it should be noted that chicken-stealing was a problem in the first part of the last century.  Ole Jack Skinner nearly got castrated for his chicken theft, his third strike…which made for the famous constitutional law case of Skinner v. Oklahoma.

The Characterization of Gay Sex as Immoral and Unacceptable

Posted by Bartleby on October 26, 2007

In Lawrence v. Texas (2003 SCOTUS case striking down sodomy laws) Scalia offers the “world will crumble” argument is his dissent, asserting in part that:

The Texas statute undeniably seeks to further the belief of its citizens that certain forms of sexual behavior are “immoral and unacceptable,” –the same interest furthered by criminal laws against fornication, bigamy, adultery, adult incest, bestiality, and obscenity. This effectively decrees the end of all morals legislation. If, as the Court asserts, the promotion of majoritarian sexual morality is not even a legitimate state interest, none of the above-mentioned laws can survive rational-basis review.

Thus, Scalia is grouping in homosexuals with immoral and unacceptable behavior such as fornication, bigamy, adultery, adult incest, bestiality, and obscenity; saying that if you overrule a ban on that “nasty & immoral gay sex” then you have to legalize the rest of the “immoral and unacceptable behavior.” To characterize gay intimacy as parallel to bestiality and like like is appalling but not without traditional roots. A Mississippi law (now unconstitutional in part) groups, and has been interpreted to group, homosexual sex with bestiality:

§ 97-29-59. Unnatural intercourse – Every person who shall be convicted of the detestable and abominable crime against nature committed with mankind or with a beast, shall be punished by imprisonment in the penitentiary for a term of not more than ten years.

Nothing earth shattering really to share here, I just found this statute in my day of work and it reminded me of Scalia’s association of gay sex to bestiality. Scalia sees homosexual activity as an immoral act thus providing a legitimate government interest for the government to regulate. That is his problem. If he viewed it as conduct unrelated to immorality it is characterized as, then there is no basis for government regulation and it should not be grouped with the likes of bigamy. Thus to counter Scalia, it is not an immoral act that warrants such regulation and thus the deregulation of it will not lead to the legalization of human/beast sex or father/daughter relations. In other words, the mighty fear that the world superpower will fall due to homosexual intercourse is rather silly and unfounded.

Heine crashes the Oshkosh, Ne Homecoming Parade

Posted by Bartleby on October 25, 2007

looks like the governor’s camera man was the only one showing up for the big event! Does no one give a shit about Heine and the little whitefaced crumb-cruncher apparently passed out being dragged by the ruthless banner of the czar of the NGOP machine?! But considering it is Oshkosh (population, like, 100), and giving Heine the benefit of the doubt, maybe a large percent of the town did show up, to walk in the parade? Either way it doesn’t appear too many Oshkoshians came home for the Homecoming Parade and to see the almighty NE ruler.
